A Bit About Me
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Truman State University and began my career as a personal trainer, specializing in weight loss and cardiac rehabilitation. While this work was deeply rewarding, I came to realize that emotional health is even more foundational than physical health. Enduring and transcending life’s challenges requires resilience, compassion, and stability of mind—qualities that make it difficult to thrive without a strong emotional foundation. This realization inspired me to transition my career toward mental health.
In 2008, I earned a Master’s degree in Counseling from Barry University, completing dual specializations in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. I broadened my professional experience through multiple internships, including school counseling and dual-diagnosis treatment facilities. In 2012, I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida.
Over the years, I have worked extensively with individuals, groups, and families on a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, psychosis, ADHD, parenting difficulties, and relationship concerns. I have also served as a speaker and panelist at various community events, such as anti-gang summits, Department of Corrections programs, public health expos, and trauma-awareness initiatives. Additionally, I have contributed to public service announcements and radio segments promoting mental health awareness.
My career path has also included leadership roles, including serving as Behavioral Director in an outpatient program that provided substance use, behavioral health, and psychiatric services.
I find deep satisfaction in helping individuals navigate their challenges by meeting them where they are and supporting them on their journey toward growth and healing. I often say that life is a journey of process, not a finite destination—we are always moving toward something, and in doing so, moving away from something else. It is an honor to walk alongside others on that journey.
